Overall, even at just two songs, this was my best supermarket visit since I decided to start keeping track. Hynde was a student at Kent State at the time of the Kent State shootings. Weird thing I just learned from Wikipedia. She's able to take this pretty ordinary song and make it memorable. All the ability in the world doesn't mean squat if it doesn't sound like you truly mean what you're singing. I'm a firm believer in ability being overrated. Chrissie Hynde has got that thing down where she sells everything she means. The next track was " I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders. Ok, maybe that's not the best compliment, but it's the best I can do. It's like a more-rocking and totally better Bon Jovi album but with a kick-ass singer. I remember driving from San Diego to Anaheim and hearing the "Breakaway" album.

I don't actually own any of her albums (no, really!), but I happen to live with someone who does. Has she ever put out a single that wasn't totally catchy and hummable? Other than that "A Moment Like This" nonsense, no.
WHO SANG SUNNY CAME HOME HOW TO
Seriously, the kid has a terrific voice and just flat-out knows how to belt out a hook. The first song I heard was " Behind These Hazel Eyes" and I'm not ashamed to admit that Kelly Clarkson f&%#ing rocks. While neither of these songs represent the best work of the respective artists, they are a much welcomed break from the usual supermarket music crap that I've been hearing. Instead, what I got was two rock-solid pop-rocks songs featuring female sings with great voices. I'm sure if this were a full trip, I would have had my enthusiasm hampered. Much two my surprise, this quick visit produced two great songs, back-to-back.

What I look to do is let the ice cream melt a bit, then pour it all together in one big bowl and mix it up. I made a quick run to the Carlstadt Super Stop & Shop on Tuesday to pick up rice, cereal, ice cream and raisins. Purpose of visit: Rice, cereal, ice cream, raisins.
